This is my free write #11, the found poetry.
All the lines were pulled frm a Math textbook
Care has been taken
An important part of learning
Solve the real-world problem
Use what you have learned
Powerful when it is applied
An understanding of what you have
A short way to write
Think of positives
We can extend
The following rule
To raise a power
The beginning of an experiment
Two territories combined
The most endangered of all
Constantly watching
The threat to their safety
Games won
Games lost

I really like this poem. Even though it is found poetry, you used phrases that work well together. and although the message isn't entirely clear, there still seems to be a central 'thought' uniting each line.
ReplyDeleteEspecially since you had to work with a math textbook, I really like the outcome of your found poetry. The only thing I might suggest is to use punctuation to truly make it your own, since the words are taken from a text.
I agree with rebecca, it might not have specific message to it, but I feel like there is a consistent tone / feeling to it. That's whats important about poetry, the emotion it evokes just as much as the message it carries.
ReplyDeleteooo i like the phrases you chose to use here! they flow quite nicely.
ReplyDelete^^hmm good point jordan! i feel this poem really brought out a few different and strong emotions, and when i reached the end, (keeping in mind this was found poetry taken from a textbook), i found i didn't need an overall message. i liked the collection of lines/emotions you chose to use.
nice ending, with a bit of a change in tone. i like it! :)
Ah this is very neat, I love what you can do when you pull some random lines from a book! This shows how poetry isn't necessarily about the words, but more so the phrasing, it's like baking a cake! the ingredients are very important, but it's all about how you do it!
